Beach and garden weddings on the Eastern Cape coast

From a twelve-guest ceremony on the sand to a full day with a marquee, dinner and dancing — planned, styled, flowered and packed away by one team.

The coast is not a neutral venue

A beach wedding is not a garden wedding with sand instead of grass. The tide comes in. The wind picks up at four in the afternoon almost every day in summer. There is no power, often no shade, and usually a flight of wooden stairs between the parking and the ceremony site.

All of that is workable — it just has to be planned for. We choose your ceremony spot against the tide table, not only the photographs. We weight arches and use dried pampas and proteas that do not shred in the wind the way soft fresh stems do. We bring blankets for your guests, because the temperature drops the moment the sun goes behind the cliff.

That is the difference between a beautiful hour and a stressful one, and it is most of what you are paying a local planner for.

Three ways to book us

Choose how much you want to carry

Every package is quoted item by item, so you can see what each part costs and adjust it.

Full planning

We start from the beginning: concept, budget, venue or beach, permits, every supplier, the timeline, the styling, the flowers, setup, coordination on the day and pack-up afterwards.

Best if you are planning from another province or country, or simply do not want to project-manage a wedding on top of a job.

Styling and flowers only

You have your venue and suppliers sorted. We design and build the look — arch, aisle, signage, table settings, bouquets and buttonholes — and take it all down at the end.

Best if you enjoy the planning but want the day to look like it was done by someone who does this weekly.

On-the-day coordination

You plan it, we run it. We take your file about six weeks out, confirm every supplier, write the running order and manage the whole day so your family can sit down and be guests.

Best if the budget is tight but you do not want your maid of honour directing traffic in her dress.

Flowers, greenery and the small things

We do our own flowers, which keeps the look consistent from the bouquet to the arch to the tables, and keeps a supplier and a mark-up out of the middle.

  • Bridal bouquet, bridesmaid posies and buttonholes
  • Arches and pillars — triangle, round, draped or bare timber
  • Aisle greenery, baskets of fynbos, ferns and potted palms
  • Pampas, proteas and dried arrangements for windy sites
  • Table arrangements, runners, candles and place settings
  • Hand-painted welcome signs and seating boards, in English or Afrikaans
  • Blankets, baskets and shawls for guests
  • Cake table, gift table and photo backdrops

A realistic idea of cost

What a wedding with us tends to involve

We do not publish package prices, because a twenty-guest ceremony on the sand and a hundred-and-forty-guest farm wedding have almost nothing in common. What we can tell you is how the money usually splits, so that you can sanity-check the number in your head before you phone anyone.

Your quote from us separates planning, décor and flowers, hire items, travel, and staff on the day. Third-party costs like catering, bar, photography and accommodation are listed at what the supplier charges, without a hidden commission added on top.

Questions we get weekly

Before you ask us

Do we need a permit to get married on the beach?

Usually yes. Public beaches fall under the local municipality, and national park beaches — including much of the Tsitsikamma coast — fall under SANParks. Each has its own application, fee, and limits on guest numbers, structures and amplified sound. With full planning we apply on your behalf, and we will tell you early on if a beach you have your heart set on is unlikely to be approved for the size of wedding you want.

What happens if the weather turns?

Every beach wedding we plan has a written wet-weather alternative agreed long before the day, together with a cut-off time for making the call. We watch wind and tide through the week beforehand and speak to you on the morning if it looks marginal. Nobody has to make that decision on the spot in a car park.

How far in advance should we book?

For a Saturday between December and February, eight to twelve months is comfortable. Off-season and mid-week dates are often open at far shorter notice, and we do take on short-notice and elopement-sized weddings when the diary allows. It costs nothing to ask.

We live in Gauteng, overseas, somewhere else. Does that work?

Yes, and a large share of our couples do exactly that. Everything runs over WhatsApp, email and video call. We photograph options, setups and sample tables so you can see what you are approving, and you only need to be here for the wedding itself.

Do you only do beach weddings?

No. We work on farms, in gardens, in forest clearings and at venues right across the Eastern Cape. The coast is simply what we have become known for.

Praat julle Afrikaans?

Ja, met graagte. Bel of WhatsApp gerus vir Erika op 082 567 0306 — ons doen die hele beplanning in Afrikaans as jy verkies, borde en kennisgewings ingesluit.
